C. S. R. Three simple letters? To some, maybe, but to those in the business world or those affected by businesses (essentially all of us), these letters go far beyond what they appear to be. Corporate Social Responsibility. Stemming from minor initiatives to developing into a separate department of a business to accepting it as a lifestyle, CSR today is a growing phenomenon. It has become a strategic way of doing business, as it allows the world’s present and future business leaders to create positive changes environmentally, socially and economically.
Here at the Schulich School of Business, we are not only ranked as one of the world’s top business schools, but we’re also one of the highest ranked for our notable CSR initiatives. Being one of the largest clubs at Schulich, the Corporate Social Responsibility Society stands strong on its CSR grounds, literally (the natural sunlight from Schulich’s glass walls to being built from recycled concrete). Standing on our CSRS pillars, we aim to educate our student body through best CSR practice promotions and providing the required skills for students to implement CSR in the business environment.
In its 8th year since its establishment, CSRS is proud to present a diverse array of events to you this year! From our popular Internship Panel in which you can gain valuable insight from upper years who have scored amazing internships and the knows and hows of getting there, to our yearly partnered CSRS-SCA Corporate Citizenship Symposium, in which you are in a more intimate setting with innovating non-profit organization representatives! All of this, all the way until the beginning of the new year which presents our annual CORE Conference – the largest CSR undergraduate conference of its kind! Look out for not only one of the most prestigious conferences, but also its Pre-CORE Networking 101 Delegate Info Session. And that’s not all, we will host the annual KPMG Consulting Case Competition, which provides exceptional opportunities for development, exposure and networking. Finally, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for our newly introduced Fundraising Event this year; raise money and awareness for a good cause while having a great time!
This year, CSRS is proud to launch its first ever blog. Make sure you stay up to date with this new feature for updates on CSR news, external CSR related events and competitions, information on our upcoming events at Schulich, and our featured post every now and then by a special guest (which could be you)!
