CORE 2011

The Largest National Conference of its Kind

The Corporate Social Responsibility Society’s marquee event is the Annual Corporate Responsibility (CORE) Conference. As the largest undergraduate business conference of its kind, CORE brings together a diverse group of delegates, focusing on corporate social responsibility in organizations today. Previously, CORE 2011 – Experience a Corporate Facelift kicked off with a networking cocktail, followed by workshops hosted by sponsors such as Google Canada, Coca-Cola, Corporate Knights, and Entrepreneurs Foundation. Valuable keynote speeches were delivered by Peggie Palosi and Dragon’s Den host Dianne Buckner. CORE 2011 attracted over 120 delegates, including students from universities across the province and corporate representatives in a interactive setting.

The conference is a prime opportunity for students to enhance their professional portfolio and kick-start their careers. Not only can delegates attend workshops or participate in a case competition, they have the opportunity to network with business professionals from firms who value CSR. By acknowledging CSR as a central topic for organizations and examining how it relates to business issues around the world, CORE enriches the education of its attendees by broadening their perspectives.

CORE 2011

CORE 2011 featured a case competition hosted by Talisman Energy that allowed students to develop CSR ideas within a real-world business framework. Giving students the chance to foster creativity and think about problems in a new and innovative way, the case competition allows participants to apply CSR concepts and strengthen their understanding of a socially responsible mindset. With past competitions revolving around numerous industries and testing various competencies, the CORE Case Competition puts students’ skills to the test, while giving them the opportunity to showcase teamwork.

This year, as the 8th annual conference, CORE 2012 builds upon previous successful conferences as the conference expands to a national scale. CSRS continues to innovate CORE by expanding its reach – this year, CORE will feature a number of not for profits, providing students with an opportunity to learn how to obtain a meaningful volunteer opportunity, or a career in the industry.

With over 175 delegates, students and representatives from Canada will find an event filled with no less than great networking opportunities, excellent food & entertainment, and a unique learning experience.
